STORAGE METHODS

All culled lionfish must be removed from the sea and not fed to marine life.  Therefore anyone hunting lionfish must have a means to store the captured lionfish while completing the dive.

A variety of devices are used for storing captured lionfish including:
  • clear dry bags
  • spare spears
  • modified 5 gallon water bottles
  • specially designed receptacles like the  ZooKeeper.

Visitors who will be taking a specialty course on lionfish can discuss storage methods with their instructor.
