COOKING LIONFISH
Lionfish meat is white and flaky and has a texture like the very desirable hog snapper. Some even use lionfish in place of lobster when the lobster season is closed!
Lionfish can be cooked like any other highly desireable fish and can be used to make ceviche, fish balls, soup, tacos or fried. Here's a sample recipe to get you started! LIONFISH CEVICHE Lionfish - fresh Sweet Pepper Tomatoe Onion Cilantro Oranges Limes Habanero Black Pepper Salt Clean freshly captured lionfish. Cut into small pieces and place in mixing bowl. Chop sweet pepper, tomatoes, onions, and add to bowl. Squeeze lime and oranges into mixture into a glass and remove seeds, and sprinkle over other ingredients already in bowl. Add salt and pepper to taste. To prepare habanero pepper remove rind and seeds. Finely chop and to bowl and mix well. Chill. Serve with tortilla chips. |
